What fish does it contain?
Alaska pollock
Alaska pollock belongs to the cod family and has nothing to do with salmon, as many have assumed, despite being referred to as “ocean salmon” in some languages. To connoisseurs it is also known as Pacific pollack or coalfish. This "newcomer" among fish, which has only been available in our region since 1984, has become one of the most popular and most frequently caught species of fish in a very short time due to its mild taste and low-fat, white meat. Its tender meat in particular makes it very popular with enthusiastic fish fans and children.
Nevertheless Alaska pollock cannot be found whole at fresh fish counters. That is because it is fished with large trawlers in the north-east Pacific, processed directly on board into fillets and deep-frozen. That makes this fish available year round and suited to almost any kind of dish. Steamed, fried, cooked or baked, it tastes delicious!
Did you also know that our Alaska pollock comes from sustainable fishing sources? So you can enjoy our superb Alaska pollock fillet with a clean conscience.
