Smoked maties fillet nordic style
What fish does it contain?
Maties
The name “maties” comes from the Dutch "Maatjeshering", which means "girl herring" or "virgin herring". As might already know, it is a young fish that has not yet spawned. Only these virgin herring are processed into the tasty maties.
Did you know that there are two varieties of maties? "Real maties" are partially rendered, which means the pancreas remains in the fish and aging is done exclusively by adding salt. There are also "Nordic style" maties, which are aged with maturation enzymes, salt, sugar, herbs and spices.
Our maties are MSC certified and comes from sustainable fishing. So you can enjoy our superb maties with a clean conscience.
