What fish does it contain?
Plaice
Did you know that plaice can grow up to 70 centimeters long and weigh up to 7 kg? Unbelievable, right? They become flatfish only when they reach a certain size. As the fish grow, the left eye moves to the right, upper-side of the body.
In Germany, the plaice is one of the most popular and well-known consumed fish. This is because of its firm white meat and robust flavor. The main fishing season is in summer and the tastiest plaice are available from July. It is often mistakenly assumed that well-known "May plaice" is the best in terms of quality. But it that is not true because plaice have not fully recovered from spawning in May, so the fat content and muscle structure are not optimal.
Plaice supplies our body with valuable iodine and omega-3 fatty acids. It is also considered an excellent source of protein. Plaice is particularly popular with a light batter and pan-fried in clarified butter. The fish is also great for poaching.
Our plaice comes from sustainable fishing, so you can enjoy it with a clear conscience.
