Cod back fillet

Bon appetit! The finest fillets from Norwegian-Arctic waters!

Cod is found in Norwegian-Arctic waters, around Iceland and off Greenland and Newfoundland. We have enjoyed this noble fish for a long time because of its fine taste and bright white meat. Our cod back fillet is especially tender and tasty and is perfect steamed or baked in a light sauce!

Cod love the cold waters from Norway to Canada. Depending on how much food the fish consume, cod can grow up to one meter long and weigh up to 40 kg. Like most sea fish, cod tastes best during the cooler months. The meat is pleasantly firm and offers the subtle taste of sea salt during this time.

Did you know that cod liver oil is extracted from the liver of cod? It was once much appreciated by many people due to its high vitamin content. We still love cod today because it is not only tasty, but also versatile. Whether grilled, fried, stewed or cooked, it always tastes delicious!

The Arctic winter cod known as skrei is especially popular. This delicacy is only available in winter and also only in Norway. From January to April, swarms of skrei make their way from the Arctic Barents Sea to the Lofoten Islands to spawn on the warmer North-Norwegian coast. The also fish got the name “the wanderer” from traveling this 1000 km route. As a result of this migration, the meat is particularly tender and lean and is sometimes known as the "Gold of Lofoten".

Our cod comes from sustainable fishing, which means you can enjoy it with a clear conscience.
