NORDSEE – We are fish.
NORDSEE covers the entire spectrum of fish products. Since 1896, it has developed its unique position in the restaurant industry as a company that provides variety and first-class quality and sources its fish sustainably.
Our mission
For more than a century, NORDSEE has been providing people throughout Germany and Austria with fresh fish and delicious fish products. Our focus is on expertise, enthusiasm, tradition and the sustainable use of fish. NORDSEE #WeAreFish.
We attach particular importance to naturalness, which we strictly follow in all our activities.
We consciously avoid using flavor enhancers, artificial flavors and genetically-modified ingredients. Our fish products also come exclusively from regulated catches. We are also introducing a growing range of high-quality fish and shellfish from certified organic aquaculture.
Naturalness is also written in capital letters at our restaurants. For example, we use natural materials in our restaurant furnishings – from colors to wood, to the use of green electricity and much more.
Naturalness also means appreciating the diversity of our employees in our team, being authentic and supporting the gastronomic expertise of our employees. We are proud fish lovers who provide our guests pleasure and enthusiasm.
We also want to be honest and authentic in our communications. We know not everyone likes fish, and we cater to them as well. And for the rest who do love fish, we are here for them. Whether it's grilled, fried or smoked fish or delicious sushi – NORDSEE has the perfect product for every fish lover.
Data & facts at a glance
Our company currently has 370 locations worldwide. There are 315 branches in Germany, 33 in Austria and another 24 in the rest of Europe and the Middle East. In 2016, more than 19 million guests visited our stores and generated around 82 million customer transactions. Worldwide, sales throughout the company were 354 million euros.
Since 2001 we also offer our own franchise model. Of the total of 370 locations, 129 are currently operated by franchise partners in Germany and abroad. The trend is rising, as we have been concentrating more and more on expanding the franchise system in Germany in recent years.
NORDSEE has around 6,000 employees, including 165 apprentices. The company’s own branches in Germany and Austria employ 4,800 people, and franchise partners employ another 1,200 people.
NORDSEE’s success is based on five sales channels: restaurants, snacks, retail, supermarkets and delivery service.
Restaurants
In our restaurants you will find a variety of fresh and natural fish dishes, salads and drinks, which you can enjoy directly at the restaurant. You can also enjoy any of our dishes as take-out.
Snacks
All NORDSEE stores also sell snacks. You can choose between savory baguettes, delicious sandwiches, hand-rolled wraps, fresh salads, various sushi and various hot snack boxes and enjoy them right away to-go.
Retail
Around 39% of our branches have a retail counter and offer fresh fish, smoked fish specialties, various delicatessen salads and fish delicacies to enjoy at home. Did you know that you can also have custom fish dishes prepared here?
Supermarkets
NORDSEE has also brought a fresh breeze to refrigerated shelves in German supermarkets since 2015, offering a variety of special NORDSEE products for fish lovers. Various delicatessen salads, fish spreads, our popular fried fish, the Bremer sandwich and the best maties fillets are waiting to be discovered by you.
Delivery service
The NORDSEE delivery service is also available now in selected German and Austrian cities for people who want to enjoy great fish comfortably at home. You can order from selected delivery service partners such as Lieferando, Foodora, Amazon fresh etc. with just a few clicks. The NORDSEE delivery service is currently available in some pilot cities and is constantly being expanded.
