People at NORDSEE

We stand for diversity & many years of service

At NORDSEE, around 6,000 employees currently work in 372 branches; 175 of the employees are apprentices. The majority of the workforce is female (81%) and one in five NORDSEE employees has a migrant background. At 22%, employees with a Turkish passport are clearly in the majority, followed by Italian employees (6%) and Serbian and Polish employees (5% each). Our age structure shows a good mix: The age groups 20-30, 30-40, 40-50 and 50+ each account for about 20%; about 5% of our employees are older than 60, and the other 15% are younger than 20 years.

At NORDSEE, flexibility and work-life balance are very important. Most NORDSEE employees (75%) work part-time. We value employee retention. So 74% of employment contracts are not limited-term contracts.

Swimming for EVERYONE

Initiative Schwimmen für ALLE, Besuch der Kinder im Schwimmkurs Initiative Schwimmen für ALLE, Besuch der Kinder im Schwimmkurs Initiative Schwimmen für ALLE, Besuch der Kinder im Schwimmkurs Initiative Schwimmen für ALLE, Besuch der Kinder im Schwimmkurs

We assume social responsibility – for example, we have been sponsoring the Berliner Bäder-Betriebe and the Deutsche Kinderhilfe for socially and financially disadvantaged children for several years now. A total of over 800 children between the ages of five and twelve were able to join a swimming class, learn how to swim and earn their swimming badges. This is an important contribution by NORDSEE to preventing all-too-common fatal swimming accidents. It also gives the children a great way to learn the important skill of swimming and thereby strengthen their self-confidence.

The initiative has recently been extended to Bavaria. NORDSEE, together with the “Wasserwacht,” is now supporting children in learning to swim in accordance with the tried and tested concept.

The Bread against Misery Foundation helps people, mostly adolescents and young adults, who live their lives on the streets and are victims of disabilities, war, conflict and natural disasters. By helping people to help themselves, "Bread against Misery" wants to give these people a future, wherever hunger, misery and unemployment threaten their future. The foundation is charitable and benevolent. “Bread against Misery” was launched by Mr. Heiner Kamps.

The foundation provides practical vocational training in the bakery trade. This philosophy makes it possible to translate the founder's expertise and wealth of experience into an effective development aid. Wherever there is great need, the foundation builds a state-of-the-art training bakery on site. Young people are trained there by experienced bakers in the bakery trade. They then receive instruction in the basics of business management.
